Stargazing during the day
Always wanted to look at the stars during the day? On a cloudless Sunday you can do exactly that at Sonnenborgh. Our Sundays revolve around the Sun, the star closest to our planet. Our volunteers will point our special solar telescope straight at the sun to give you the opportunity to look at its fiery surface. And who knows: you might be able to see sunspots and solar prominences.
Sun lab
In the past Sonnenborgh was a world famous solar observatory, where scientists discovered the chemical composition of the sun. To achieve this, they used a giant solar telescope. In our Sun lab you’ll not only be able to learn how this discovery was made and what it means, but you’ll also see the sun unraveled into a rainbow before your eyes.
Sun lecture
Would you like to find out more about the sun? Come join one of our sun lectures (in Dutch only!) in our historical lecture hall. During half an hour one of our volunteers will tell you all there is to know about the biggest star in our solar system, and all the important analyses revolving around the sun that were performed at Sonnenborgh. Lectures will start at 14:00 and 15:30.
